The Be Doggone Smart at Work program is designed for people who work in public and may come into contact with dogs. Doggone Safe is a not for profit organization dedicated to dog bite prevention. The organization originated in Canada and now has a US office. Tina Van Why, owner of Sit Happens, is the Southeast Regional Coordinator for Doggone Safe USA. Doggone Safe offers many programs and also offers support for victims of dog bites. No live dogs are used in presentations. Whether you are a realtor, delivery person, exterminator or any other service industry employee, safety is our goal for this program. This is a two hour, interactive program available as on-site training. The cost is $600, however small businesses may want to band together to share expenses for a single presentation. |
|
Teaching methods used in the program are listed below · Modeling—presenters demonstrate safe ways to act around dogs. · Role Playing—presenters help students act out safe responses to scenarios involving dogs. · Visual Learning—students see photos and video and learn to interpret dog body language and predict dog behavior. · Interactive risk assessment—quizzes help worker to evaluate various scenarios. · Scenario evaluation—participants describe real-life situations and the group will discuss and develop safe strategies for interaction. · Question & Answer—participants have the opportunity to have their specific questions answered. · Follow Up—participants will be given resource materials and access to a private website where they can post questions and get additional information on an ongoing basis. |
